: About The College :

        It was founded in the year 1925 as the Dhaka National Medical Institute near Bahadur Shah Park, Dhaka, Bangladesh, under the guidance and leadership of Mahatma Gandhi, Mawlana Muhammad Ali, and MawlanaShawkat Ali. Its functions became inactive during and posted the Pakistan-Bangladesh Strife. It was in the year 1994, that was revitalized and opened to 63 students as Dhaka National Medical College. In 2018-19, it welcomed its 25th batch of 130 students for Bachelor of Medicine & Surgery (MBBS) and Bachelor of Dental Surgery (BDS) degree. The college is approved by the Bangladesh Medical and Dental Council (BMDC) and offers 5-year degree certificates in MBBS and BDS in affiliation to Dhaka University. The degree is followed by a compulsory one-year internship training. Graduates at Dhaka National Medical College are eligible for limited registrations with the General Medical Council of the UK, and also eligible to sit for United States Medical License Examinations (USMLE). College Features Dhaka National Medical College has an extensive clinical facility, improved and advanced library, Radiology and Imaging Center, a Nursing Institute, and new departments, including Interventional Cardiology, Neuro-Medicine, Nephrology, Gastroenterology, and Endocrinology established. The campus has accommodation arrangements for 300+ inpatients. Facilities for students include hostel accommodation and mess, sports ground and a gymnasium, bank inside the campus, and medical center open 24/7. Admission Procedure • Eligibility for selection consideration includes a minimum of 3.5 and above CGPA at SSC and HSC (or equivalent) levels from a science background (Biology Compulsory) • Admission in DNMC is made based on the guidelines of Directorate-General Health Services (DGHS) • Admissions are offered based on the merit list generated by DGHS after conducting the national entrance test • Meritorious students from poor backgrounds and relatives of freedom fighters are selected based on DGHS guidelines (up to a fixed number)
